Fuel Leak!

Well my 95 Chevy has some type of fuel leak. It is running from somewhere and running down all over the bell housing and then on the transmission oan. I looked up under there and both lines are pretty soaked but I can tell where the leak is comming from. I looked on top around the fuel manager and it really doesnt look when, I also looked in the engine valley where the fuel manager is at and there is no puddles of fuel. I just noticed it tonight and I have been noticing these puddles for a few days but the roads have been wet. Its now parked and I am not going to drive it until I fix it. I hooked my fuel PSI guage up and it says about 4lbs so it isnt too big of a leak. When the truck is idleing for about 5 mins it leaves about a 3" diameter circle of fuel. Please help, Thanks!!

If the valley is not wet then its got to be the fuel hoses that feed from the lift pump up to the filter assembly.

These hoses are a bitch to get to as they are behind the engine bellhousing and run down and across to the left frame rail to the pump and return line.

The hose assemblies are part metal tube and part hose to allow them to flex and to be mounted on the engine. When they are put on at the factory the body is not on the chassis so they are a snap to work on.

I personally would crawl up into the sucker and cut them loose at the filter and return line and reroute new lines as I mentioned and just cut as much of the old line assembly off as high up as you can and then come a time that you have the engine out you can remove the rest of the offending beastie.


When I had my 94 apart to rebuild the engine I relocated the fuel delivery lines (New HD hose) so they run up under the steering column and then over the left valve cover to the fuel filter assembly and the return line pipe.

If the two lines running up the back of the bellhousing are not correctly secured, they rub on a seam on the firewall and leak real bad. Ask me how I know that!

You can replace the short piece of rubber tubing from above if you lossen the fuel filter and push it out of the way. Not esasy, but possible. Make sure the lines are secured when you're done...

So from the metal fuel line there is a short piece of rubber hose that clamps onto it then clamps onto the fuel filter correct? Does the return line come off of the fuel filter or somewhere else? So Could I unscrew these lines at the lift pump and then at the fuel filter and replace the two rubber hoses for easy access?

This Seemed to happen after I replaced the OPS. So last night I climbed back in the and unblted the fuel filter and saw that the hose by the OPS was quite loose. The socket must have hit next to it and disturbed it. So I tightened up all the fuel hose clamps and then rebolted the fuel filter and retested. Saw that the fuel leak was gone! Made me very happy, so I went down and washed underneath to get all the fuel off. Thanks!

Well today i noticed that it is leaking fuel again. So I replaced the incomming fuel hose with some new 3/8 and new hose clamps. Fired it up and it is still leaking. I looked really close and it seems to be comming from the bottom of the fuel manager/filter housing. Is it cracked? Please help.

I had mine apart 3 times before I found it! The o-ring on the heater housing was leaking I took it to the farm store & found a match replaced it & no more leak all that work for a 75 cent fix! Good luck

Well I replaced both o-rings; the water in fuel sensor and the fuel heater and now the leak is gone thank god. THANKS!
