    Default Chevy Silverado 2500 question

I came across a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup, 2 wheel drive, automatic, 6.5 turbo diesel with 195,000 miles on it. It is in excellent condition, on a scale of 1-10 its an 8.

Any idea what this truck is worth?

About how many MPG do you think this truck will get?

    Default Mpg

A lot to do with the MPG is the rear end gearing. The different gear ratios are
    3.42
    3.73
    4.10
The way to check is by looking in the glovebox. On the bottom of the glovebox is a slip of paper that has codes on it. I believe it is the second or third column from the left that will have the ratio code.
    The readout is
    GU6:3.42
    GT4:3.73
    GT5:4.10
    Hope that helps
I have the 5-speed trannsmission with 4.10 and a few little mods and I get between 17-18mpg on the highway. not sure about town, but is is substantially less.

Take the VIN to a GM dealer and see if they will give you a download on work done at GM shops. Of most interest would be if and when the IP was replaced.
