Are people seeing the prices in California? Newsome thinks the oil companies are price gouging... and the high prices have nothing to do with CA's extreme environmental regulations, #1 highest petroleum taxes in the nation (see below) or limits/bans on new/upgrading petroleum infrastructure.

    1. California

State Fuel Tax: 68.15¢ per gallon of gasoline (70.95¢ per gallon effective July 1, 2022), 99.91¢ per gallon of diesel (102.01¢ per gallon effective July 1, 2022)

Average Sales Tax: 7.25% state levy. Localities can add as much as 2.5%, and the average combined rate is 8.82%, according to the Tax Foundation.

Yep. I filled up last week. $131 for less than 20 gallons. $6.59/gallon, cash, as I recall. It was $7+ earlier this week, and likely more now. The only price-gouging is from Newsom and the state legislature.

And the seasonal switchover which creates shortages due to running down the supply so they dont get stuck with leftovers

The place I have been going to recently has been off of Gas Buddy for a few days. It's a little out of the way, so today I went up there to see what was up. When I went to enter the prices in Gas Buddy I got a warning "The price you've entered seems a little high..." $5.89. Cheapest is $4.99, 12 miles away...

$5.09 this morning; up from $4.19 less than 2 weeks ago! Just so weird how prices are all over the place, and from station to station.

Filled up our car and our 2001 GMC the other day... Unleaded regular gas was $3.98. Diesel #2 was $5.44. So... diesel fuel is $1.46 a gallon more expensive than gasoline! This is nuts. It's not like the US economy runs on diesel fuel...
