Default Coolant Manifold from 90's Van

    Folks,

I have in my garage the parts to convert the V-Belt system on my 83CC to the serpentine from a 1997 CK.

The missing piece is the coolant crossover manifold. I bought a single thermostat manifold that came from a 1995 CK. The manifold and support on the driver side interfere with each other. there is a pathway for the manifold leg to go beneath the A/C compressor. The manifold leg tries to pass through the rear pad mount.

I think I saw mention that the early 90's Van TD used the same design framework for the serpentine system, but used a single thermostat mounted high

I have thought about using the twin thermostat housing, and I may in the future. I need to think about how to keep the upgrade as simple as I can.

Does anyone know if the early 90's van used the serpentine framework that the 97-99 CK's used? and if so, what did the crossover manifold look like.

I saw a picture of one that looks like it might work in the DieselPower article about swaping a 6.5l into other chassis ( like SB chevy engines).

The TD Van came out in '96, so it could have either the single stat or the dual t-stat.

I figured out real quick that the crossover from the van for the dual thermostat was the exact same as used on the C/K pickups.

As a matter of fact I snagged a dual x-over on ebay cheap because it was listed for a Van, same part.

As for the serpentine arrangement, you're going to need to go to the dealer and see what the arrangement differences are in their schematics.

    Hope this helps...

    GSE2SCHMIDT,

That crossover manifold looks like what I am looking for.

It also looks like the crossover manifold that DieselPower mag has on their 6.5lTD for their article.

Is Bread truck the same as a P-30 chassis?

Are there any identifying numbers on it?

    Thanks for the picture.

The guys tell me it's the same as the P-30 chassis. Also the fuel supply and return headers were different and fuel entered/exits by the mechanical fuel pump block off plate. Check your mailbox about the crossover.

    Exclamation

Also the pump turns backwards for the V-belt versus the serpentine...correct?

The picture shows exactly the reason I started looking for the P style crossover. The '95 crossover interferes with the A/C rear mount. The P style shown dives under the compressor.

Currently, the serpentine project is on hold due to a broken fuel pump.
