    Default Pyro Thermocouple Question

I'm installing an Autometer Pyrometer in my 6.2 with Banks Turbo.

The Manifold is tapped for 1/4" NPT. The Pyro adapter is for 1/8". If I install a bushing, the probe will only stick into the exhaust gas stream about 1/4 - 5/16".

Is this enough contact with the gas to get an accurate reading on the thermocouple?

If the hole in the manifold was tapped for 1/8" directly, it looks like the probe would almost cross the gas stream entirely.

Note, I'm having a similar question with my mechanical water temp gauge, which needed an extender to keep it from hitting the far side of the head water passage.

I assume that they will both work, but would like to seek second opinions.

    Thanks.

Call Banks and ask one of their tech guys.
I think it will work fine, but be sure.
