    Question Motor question

Guys, need a little help before I take my truck to the shop. I have an 05 GMC 2500HD D max with the edge attitude and the problem Im having is every now and then ( happining more often then before) going down the road Ill look in the rear view mirror and see tons of smoke comming from the tail pipe, black and gray. EGTs go through the roof and Im not getting any power. It actually slows down and just smokes. What is going on???????

Have you tried removing the Edge box and see if the problem clears up?

Black or grey smoke, combined with high EGTs indicates unburned fuel in the exhaust. This is a result of too high fuel rates, too low boost pressures, or both.

Could be something simple, like a blocked or collapsing air intake passageway. How is your filter? Some cone style oiled gauze filters will collapse under high demand if they are plugged.
