IIRC, they use the same physical turbo as the 6.2 kits. It is a good kit and makes decent power. There are other, less expensive options out there, such as piecing together a kit from 6.5TD components.

    Banks stuff is good quaility.
I have seen the 6.2 kit from an early engine used on a 6.5 that was in an early body style truck.

Just depends on what your needs are.
The turbo is pretty much self limiting though as to what it can boost.

Use a banks manifold and bolt on the 6.9/7.3 Ford/IH Turbo that Banks used with the wastegate setup.

Mickey - some more info on your truck and current mods would help.

My thought is that there isn't a chip on the market that overfuels the 6.5L, and a good GM-4 has no problems keeping up with the fuel rates and hi-pop injectors.

Since we have seen cracked pistons on overboosted 6.5 engines - what would you be looking for in the Banks product?

For the money, I'd spring for 18:1 pistons first. Then maybe a bigger turbo to fill the cylinders a tad quicker...

the problem with the GM-4 (through 8) is the pressure builds so high on the exhaust side when boost is cranked up.
This is most likely what leads to destruction.

Almost any other turbo is better.

The Banks unit is a good low pressure turbo. 5 to 7 psi max. Banks does not suggest an intercooler. The low pressure does not just justify it according to them (I have asked them at more than one diesel event).

For max power, 18:1 pistons and high boost and intercooler are required for the 6.5 and most other diesel engines.

This topic has nothing to do with my setup. I have read very good things about the banks setup on 6.2s, and since so much is interchangeable between these two engines I thought it might have been done. I am in the process of trying to find a 93 truck to serve as a donor vehicle for a swap into a 99 denali I have. I love the denali, and want everything the diesel offers. I am also planning on going manual with my setup because I don't want to deal with switching all the sensors from gas to diesel. I am hoping that westers garage will be able to have the computer ignore select sensors currently in the vehicle so the swap will work.
