04 gmc sierra 6.6 duramax power numbers?

Hello all,

how much power would the 04 duramax with a 5spd have? is it recommended that i should use any power adders?

Don,

The early 2004 models were equipped with a 300 hp LB7. The late 2004 models were equipped with a 310 hp LLY. If you're not sure whether you have an LB7 or LLY, look at the eighth digit in the VIN. The LB7 was a #1 and the LLY was a #2.

we went to see it and we both (wife and I) thought that the truck had too many miles although it had the 300hp engine.

I have had a LB7, LLY with edge stuff on it , now I have a LBZ with a custom live EFI tune by Kennedy diesel. The EFI tune is much nicer to drive then the edge stuff , it pulls harder down low , improved fuel economy empty and towing . I would say this is the best option I have used to date. Dont put more then 70 hp more then stock threw a stock trans and it will live a long time , it you tow heavy you may want to back the power down to 40~50 hp added . Live EFI has the ability to do a few differnt programs in one ECM and change the tune on the fly with a in cab switch .
