Here's a problem and solution reported by a fellow 6.5L owner that could be important to others who find themselves in the same situation.

I talked to you back this past August about low lift pump presser at the drain line, and I so changed the electric fuel lift pump (did nothing). So, I unhooked the fuel supply line near the tank and ran it into a 5 gallon can of diesel, and bled the system. I started the truck and saw 5 ½ to 6 psi on the gauge. ( a good diesel shop told me to do this before removing the injection pump and it worked.

Pulled the truck bed again and opened up the top of the fuel tank and found the 1 year old sock on the pickup was blocked up with a gray matter. Come to find out it was the galvanizing coming off the inside of the brand new tank I installed just 1 year ago. So, I installed a plastic tank and I feel I am over this problem. Take care and God Bless the USA. Robert Haskins
I can't help but wonder if this is an "import" tank....
