    Thumbs up Returnee

Hello TDP people, I'm back.Been gone for a while. My first GM diesel was a 92 3/4 6.5. Loved it Traded and got a 2001 1 ton DW4x4 Dmax, loved it Traded it now have 2008 Dmax 1 ton Not sure yet. Love the Dmax though. But this truck has more rattles and squeaks than anything I driven before. I want to put on bigger tires, but am wondering if the 245's will fit. Not much wanting to go 19.5. Would like to stay with the 17s' but just wider

    Welcome back, Poobear!

17's??? The 2001 Duramax 3500's (and 2500's) all came with 16's. If you have only SRW, then it's not a 1 ton. You can use wider tires, but dually spacer adapters may be required. You can use any width that doesn't allow the tires to contact under load. If it's a SRW, you can use any width that doesn't rub the front fenders.

Not sure about your squeaks and rattles. My 2001 is the most squeakless and rattleless vehicle I've ever driven. Same with every other late model GM I've seen. Be more specific about this, and address them as they come up. Should be a quiet ride!

    Very well.

I haven't had much exposure to the 2008's, but I'd hate to think GM screwed the pooch on an excellent truck line. Use your warranty (BEFORE ANY MODS!!!), that's what it's there for. Get them to make it 100% right. You paid for it, and should get what you paid for.

After that.....same applies to the tires. If they don't rub, they're OK. Keep it simple and it should work out. You can get 17" aftermarket wheels with a deeper offset. Be sure to measure the amount of inner space (space between the wheel and springs, etc.) you have before taking too big of a bite.
