We did a little 'backroad midnight routing' when confronted with a permit refusual out of our marina in IL...came across a construction zone with 10'6" wide bridge/concrete barriers...boat was 14' at railings (picture)...stopped and surveyed the situation, continued slowly, boat cleared bridge and concrete barriers so we actually went OVER the problem, with truck/trailer clearing with 1' on each side.

Yeah, its fun. Especially at night when the DOT guys are asleep...

I have worked with several outifts that do "special Hauls"
    (midnight express)

The fees for their services are generally somewhat higher than those that run daylight hours if ya know what I mean.

BTW Congrats on getting through without issue

I have been thinking about branching out a tad bit. Possibly offering ferry service for large vehicles.
I have a squeeky clean CDL record (seems tough to find from what I hear from some companies looking to hire)

I had been aproached in past years to do ferry moves of large Motor homes (buses) and semi tractors ect.

Might be a nice job if I can make it go. let someone else worry about the fuel, insurance and the rest of the hastle.

    We shall see.

That's a bit bigger than what I'm looking for or I'd have you hook me up with the dealer. Actually, I was hoping to resurrect my Dad's old boat in his memory, but that's looking doubtful (rotten transom) so I bought a used Alumacraft Magnum 165, and have been out hunting Walleye with my Brother (outdoing him 5-1 so far) getting a feel for what I really want in a boat. Looking to a Lund in the near future...

Lots of great deals on used boats this season. I am partial to the newer fuel injected 4-stroke technology over 2-strokes of any configuration. Mercury powerplants are my favorites - from the good old state of WI. Not suprisingly, Hondas get good reviews as well.

Depending on size of boat/motor Honda is one of my preferred choices. If it's 90HP down then Honda. Up from there, Merc, possibly a 150 Verado. I'd like to avoid having a Kicker and digital throttle sounds like it will do this. Know any awesome Lund dealers? Looking at Badger Marine in Nekoosa WI.

With marine dealers, it all comes down to location, capacity, service after the sale. Since there are huge peaks in demand with the seasons, the dealer that can get you back on the water quickest and get the part/fix right the first time is the best. Ask around at the docks when you encounter other Lund owners. Funny, I saw a semi FULL of new Lund boats yesterday headed into WI...
