    Default Roachie (from Australia) introduction

    G'day everybody,
As you can see, I'm from "downunder", where our steering wheel is on the right hand side of the rig.
My rig is a 2000 model Nissan Patrol. It was originally a 4.2TD Nissan motor, but the original owner decided right-away, that he needed more grunt, so he had Brunswick Diesel instal a brand new 6.5 Chev Diesel with supplemental LPG.
I'll try to add a couple of photos of my rig plus our Ultimate Off-Road Camper Trailer as soon as I can re-size a couple of 'em..
Anyway, I've been into 4x4ing for about 20 years and love the strength of the Patrol (you don't get that vehicle in the States).
    Cheers to everybody.......

That is one cool rig. Did you do all the mods yourself? Can you post some pics of the interior and of the trailer opened up and of its interior? Thx Scott

    Thanks for the compliments ......

The Ultimate Camper is made here in Australia.... website is www.ultimatecampers.com.au

That would be the best way to see the whole story about the rig.

I'll see what I can do about finding more photos of my set-up and post them over the next couple of days.

    Cheers

Check the web site and look at the part about "See it in action".

    Scott,

I bought the truck in late 2006; basically it looked pretty much like what you see in the photos. The bulk of the work was already done (engine conversion, cut-down from station wagon to dual cab, addition of box etc).

The things I've done are all the other stuff..... suspension has been raised (with associated changes to drag links, castor plates, rear tail shaft turned around for clearance) and larger tyres fitted. Fuel capacity was raised from the standard 125 litres to 256 litres. The rig weighs in at around 3.5 ton, so fuel economy is not something I spend too much time thinking about. It's about 17mpg (or 16 litres/100klm). There are 4 more Lightforce lights mentioned in the list, but not shown in the photos (added since the photos were taken). Also, in some of the photos you will see that I have a Warn 9000lb winch fitted. I wasn't using that item very often and have recently removed it so I have a space to fit the Amsoil dual bypass set-up. I have opted for a BE110 bypass filter which is about 10.5" high and needs a lot of space.....

Hope this helps explain it a bit for you.

    Very nice!

Of course, on this site the interest is the pictures under the bonnet to show how you stuffed the 6.5 into the little beastie!
