Default 4 wd vs 2 wd 1992 Suburban

What makes a 4 wheel drive 1992 Suburban taller than a 2 wheel drive? Is the body raised or is it in the suspension? The rear springs appear to be the same. I guess the front spindles could be mounted higher on the steering knuckle. Can somebody tell me? Thanks

Also realize that just about everything up front is different between the 4x4 and 2wd. Very little of it bolts to each other. I think even the tie-rod ends are different.

You can't just "bolt on" the necessary 4x4 parts to make a 2wd a 4x4. It involves so much work you'd be better off going with a custom solid axle swap and suspension.
