    Default Chevy 2006 c5500 4x4

Hello everyone, vehicle today is a Chevy c5500, it is 4x4 with dump body. 55k miles on the truck. driver complaint is loud abnormal gear whine, bearing shimmy, somethings not sounding correct. detailed inspection; found what i would think to be some pretty bad play on input shaft to transfer case from transmission. all visual oil inspections show no sign of contamination. my question to any one who is familiar with the NP 273c, is it of its nature to being a floating input shaft?? to give some idea, I'm talking like .25" free play. im open to suggestion,

    thank you.

That little stubby shaft between the trans and the tcase has alot of play! Do either seals leak? I will have to check at work, but I know that the input yoke at the tcase and the output yoke at the trans has alot of play.
