Thread: no start when hot

    Default no start when hot

    rebuilt a 6.5L and runs perfect. only thing is it wont start when its hot. anyone with this problem or could help me i would appreciate it. thanks

    IsIsis the injector pump new or rebuilt? Next time it won't start, pour lukewarm water over the pump and try again. If it starts your pump is worn out, the water cools the pump and tightens up loose tolerances enough to get it started.

    the pump is the oringinal off the old motor and i will try that out tomorrow. thanks

    Where is your PMD?
    1993 4x4 1ton 6.5/4l80e runs on WVO.

    Was S then F code now SSD ECM (used - it was cheap - not my first choice)

    mounted and cooler on the intake and 95
    the warm water trick worked so i guess that means new pump which i have
    its just sad to tear that far down after you just put it all together

    Before you change the pump, try adding a quart of 2-stroke oil to 5-6 gallons of fuel. If it improves, then that also points at the pump. If it doesn't improve, I'd continue looking...
