Default 4 cylinder DD engine in 72 Chevy truck

Am interested in a 72 Chevy w/a four cylinder Detroit Diesel engine in it. The owner stated the the engine was a "4cc" DD and that the engine is not original to the truck. Past that, the owner doesn't seem to know much about it. Anyone have any clue as to which DD engine model it might be?

It's most likely a Detroit 4-53 which is a 2 cycle, 4 cylinder engine having 212 cubic inches. In stock form, it had 135 hp.

They're not so fuel efficient but the engine does make a cool sounding exhaust note.

They also do best when they're wound right up, when you're operating a Detroit-powered piece of road equipment you pretty much keep the accelerator on the floor and control road speed with the transmission LOL
