The 1997 6.5 that was advertised as "complete" turned out to be a "complete" long block. Anyway, they are asking $3100. It has 17,000 miles on it. The shop is a rebuilder - they received the engine as a core from a local GM dealer. They claim that the dealer had misdiagnosed the problem and purchased a rebuild and sent this in as a core. Turns out that there was a problem with one of the rocker shafts. The shop will give me a 6 month warranty (12 months for $150 more).

    All feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks!

Diesel Depot sells complete long blocks for less than that, and they have built hundreds and know what they are doing. A 6.2 longblock was about $2100 last time I checked. Talk to Jamie at the Diesel Depot before you buy.

    Already talked to Jamie - $2400 for a 6.2, and $3550 for a 6.5.

Just to clarify - this is not a rebuilt engine. It is a used engine with 17K miles.

But did you ask about used engines at the Diesel Depot?
They gave me prices of $1100 for 6.2 and $1900 for 6.5 used. Complete with IP and injectors. (+ shiping and core)
