    Default Damper?

Opinions. Need a Water Pump 99 Burb 214 on the clock, Do the Damper and Pully while its apart. Or waste of money?

You can take a look at things before you start the work. What sort of shape is the rubber in the pulley?

Havent really checked as of yet. It has just been recommended due to the 214K on the engine.
Thinking if it looks OK I will Pass on Replacement.

If you decide to replace, be sure the parts you get are genuine GM. The online auto parts stores are selling knock-off stuff from China. I know of at least one of them that spun the outer ring off the hub shortly after installation.

Exactly. a good part of my indecision. Do I replace a known OEM functioning part or take a chance installing a potential piece of junk in a knock off AC box.
I am tending towards bypassing the damper and just install the pump.

I saw an aftermarket one from a real hi perf damper company, I think it was ATI. That would probably be better than a stock one.

I was referring to a OEM "appearing" replacement as one to avoid. It looks just like a genuine part, but it's not. I'll be installing a Fluidampr on our latest 6.5 project. If ATI makes one for the 6.5, I'd be OK with it as well. They and their reputation have a stake in a 6.5 owner's success.
