Holden suburban 1998

Hi all , I have a 1998 Holden Suburban and am trying to track down were I can buy head lights from in Australia ( not from the chev guys as I might as well sell the car to buy them ) , I have purchased some from the states that say they will fit but they don't . Any help would be great ..

Is the Holden the same as the 1998 Chevy/GMC Suburban?



If so, I'd say it should be fairly simple to get aftermarket headlights. But I know from experience with Toyotas that what you have could be a different model entirely - or that the same models span different years.

Good point. If the lamps are sealed beams, and NOT the composite type (one piece with replaceable bulbs), that could be the ticket.

Lots of neat differences from the North American models but the headlights appear to be plain old sealed beams.

The only issue might be if the lamps are "euro spec" which are different from NA sealed beams.

But, the buckets should be the same....

Looks like the same lights GM used in some of the higher end 90-91 Suburbans and Crewcabs.They were also used in the 88 and up GM 400 bodies.
I have some in stock in our store if you want some other numbers,not sure what makes they are.

I have never seen this type lamp in a GMT 400 truck here.

Gotta be peculiar to Canada or ????

I like the mini sealed beams, as they dont scratch and get all cloudy like the plastic ones used here.

That's what is OEM on 1987.5+ (early 88's) GMT-400 pickups. I don't recall when they changed to the composite headlamps, but it was only a couple years, or maybe only the one year. The GMT-400 HD pickups and SUV's never had them that I know of. It was another one of those GMT retooling transition periods. There's almost always some dinosaurs that come out of them.

I have a 1989 chev with the same sealed beams. Great lights as you can also adjust each light individually. A friend has a salvage yard and people pay big buck to be able to convert newer trucks over to the sealed beams.

Dunno what to tell ya.

My 89 had the sealed beam glass "4 eyes".

Every GMT400 "4 eyes" I've worked on were glass also.....I've never seen plastic other than the composite lights from around 94-ish up....
