Default Dodge Cummins Shut Down Problem

While my 98 dodge Cummings diesel is running, I turn key to shut off, but seems to still want to run, a weird winning clicking sound comes from the truck. I barely turn the key back to start and it keeps running without starter. I have to mess with it to shut down completely. This doesn't happen all the time.

Sounds like the fuel shutoff solenoid is going bad.

I didn't know Dodge made a Cummings. If only there was a forum dedicated to Dodge diesels like this one is dedicated to the CHEVROLET DIESEL...

Edit: Sorry, that was kinda snarky. You'll get a way better answer on the forum I linked to though...

sounds like you have a 12v 1998 cummins (rare) and yes, its the shutdown relay. Google larry B's replacement parts and join us over at diesel truck resource dot com
