    Default 6.5 turbo

I have a 6.5 gmc. I am looking for a way to get more pulling power and possible good fuel economy. But over over all I prefer power over fuel. What are the best ways to accomplish this?
Where do I start. The truck is all original. Rebuilds transmission, new rubber duck fuel controller.

    Anyone with good ideas?

This is probably the best place to find the info that you are looking for!
Just do a search on this forum and you will find EVERYTHING you are looking for.

A quick opinion....The 6.5 is NOT going to compete with the Powerjokes or the cummins. Was never really intended to. If you start making REAL power with it (without doing MAJOR engine work) chances are you will end up with a smoked block/crank. BUT there are lots of small cheap things to do that will give good reasonable gains.

    Have fun!

Start with installing an EGT gauge and boost gauge.
Then replacing the flat panel air filter with a 98+ K-47 option factory round air filter housing and filter.

Then upgrade the exhaust to an aftermarket 3" downpipe with a 4" free flowing exhaust system and replace the factory exhaust crossover-they are often collapsed internally and go unnoticed.

After that there is a feed the beast mod,ECM tuning and IP timing that can all have an effect on power output.

Good spray pattern from injectors is also important so Bosch,Stanadyne or Delphi injector nozzles ONLY when having them rebuilt.

With higher power comes higher engine temps so having the Kennedy Special Calibration fan clutch and 20" fan helped my truck a lot-cleaning the cooling stack is a maintenance item to be done on a regular basis.

Also before they cost you an engine get an aftermarket engine oil cooler and line kit from Leroy Diesel or Lubrication Specialists.
