    Default Is this normal?

Is the crank timing gear supposed to move this easy? If not, does it have something to do with the back woodruff key? It's like it is too far in and the timing gear doesn't catch on it at all... Please go to the link below for a video to see what I am talking about. This is my first rebuild so I don't know if this is normal or not.

Its normal for it to slide on the cranks like that, but it shouldn't be able to turn separate of the crank. Does it? I see the woodruff key on the front of the crank snout, but there should be another one further back that keeps the sprocket located properly on the crank. The woodruff key on the front of the snout is for the harmonic balancer.

Depending on the individual parts, some are looser than others.

I have seen them require a light tap with a plastic hammer, and as you showed, a nice easy slip fit.

    Carry on
