Default His and Hers New Rides

    Hi All
Got a new to me work truck a couple of weeks ago.
    It's a 2004 GMC 7500 Topkick with a C7 Cat and a 7 speed trany.Air ride 22 ft deck.
It involved a 1800 km road trip back with the truck.I had one brake down on a Sunday, but found a shop that would call out a wrench.Between the two of us i was back on the road 3PM Sunday. My permit was good till midnight Monday,i pulled into our yard at 11:45 PM Monday.
I picked up a newer Sunfire for my wife on the same trip. She's driven her old one for 14 yrs through anything Mother nature has tossed us over the yrs. It's never been towed out of the ditch or home because it broke down.So she wasn't looking at anything else.I found a 05 with 49,000 Kms on Vancouver Island and bought it.Then i drove the car to the truck
Then bought the container in Kamloops, where the truck was.Put the car in the container, container on the truck and headed for home.

It was a bit complicated,i just shared the short version.
I picked up a Tig welder as well, plus a few tools that were advertised on Kijiji Kamloops.
I spent a few days getting everything ready for the trip home, other than the oil leak it was uneventful, just a long drive. The last day i had to drive 750 miles, which was done in 14 hrs.No meal breaks i had a bunch of fruit and juice.Pee breaks at the same spots as brake checks, good tunes and i made it through the last scale 100 miles from home with 2 hrs left on the permit.Once past the scale i didn't care when i got home.

    It had it's moments.
But now i have a handy truck to make a bunch of road trips easier.
One thing about the new truck, it's one of the most comfortable trucks that I've had to drive. It's a tossup between my KW tanker and this truck. Both have air ride and enough power for their intended loads. The Topkick stays on the road a little better. You can let go of the wheel of the Topkick and remove your jacket, fold it and place it on the passenger seat without having to worry about it heading towards the ditch or other lane. The view out of the cab is great, plus the cab is quite a bit wider than a KW cab.

So my wife's new to her car got backed into on Sunday.Hers was the only car in the parking lot.She came out of the store with groceries just to see and hear the crash.
She freaked, this was the nicest car she ever had,no dents low mileage,on some days you can almost smell the new car.
My guess is a $4000 estimate.
I told her after looking at some cars up for bid that they may total it.She is worried about losing her new baby.
