    Question Having issues

Ok I bought my 96 and it didn't start I messed with is and eventually changed the ignition switch and it fired right up made it 3 blocks and died.

Towed it back home and messed with it the next day pulled codes said optic pickup in pump was fried so I changed the ip no fuel still to injectors

So changed pmd again with 6 foot extention still no start

Checked all of the grounds again and cleaned again just on safe side checked all wiring not finding anything noticeable wrong pulled all plugs apart and cleaned

It is not kicking any codes and still will not fire getting very irritated any ideas what it might be I've been wondering if it might be the computer have changed everything else

    Howdy
How long had the truck sat before you attempted to start?
What symptoms did it have before this issue?

Check the OPS sensor and all related connections.
Verify that the starting system is in 100% condition
Verify that fuel is able to get to the IP:
    -- check at the injectors
-- check at the fuel manager/filter
    -- check the Lift pump
    -- check the fuel lines
-- check the fuel tank and pickup in the tank

It had sat for about 3 months

Pryor to ignition switch going out my friend drove it every day to work

Have checked all of that even put on new fuel tank (old one had a Crack) that was Pryor to changing switch so truck had run for about 30 min before it just died

The thing cranks over like a dream no fuel to the injectors

Be sure the fuel filter is clean (replace)

You have replaced the IP so all the fuel lines are dry from the IP to the injectors

    Air in everything.

Be sure the lift pump is sending fuel to the filter and on to the IP

Remove the fuel feed hose on top of the IP
Get the lift pump operating and air free fuel to the IP.
    Connect fuel line to IP

Remove glow plugs "makes it easy to spin engine"

Spin engine until fuel mist blows out glow plug holes.

This should not take more than 30 seconds

This technique makes it easy on the batteries and the starter.

Also the IP is not having to fight compression to clear the air from injectors/ lines

Make sure that when the key is turned on that the fuel shut off on top of the IP goes CLICK

Was this a new IP or ????

    Get fuel to IP
    Remove plugs
    Spin until fuel blows out
    Replace plugs
    Glow
    Start

    Keep us in the loop

    Good luck

Well I got water leak fixed and have had time to mess with it all weekend.

It seems to run pretty good I think pump timing is a little to advanced (it pings while idling) but it's not kicking any codes so gonna retard the timing some and see how she does

Other than that not any complaints for a $900 pickup I'll try and post some pics of it in a couple days

A $900 truck is what we are looking for.

My son needs anew engine for his truck. He took it to a shop to have the starter changed and they did not install the starter brace. They broke the block at the first hit of the key.
Then they jacked him around and he had to lawyer up. But he didn't get enough for a new engine installed

If you stumble across something we would be interested, I sure would appreciate a heads up. I've missed a couple. My son lives in Minneapolis and I live in Central Illinois. We are not afraid to take a ride for a cheap engine. We'd prefer a whole vehicle so we know the engine is what is claimed.

Jrsavoie if your looking for an engine I'll ask my dad today and see if he knows where another one is.

He just bought one for a 95 1 ton 4x4 that we are putting together to sell I'll ask him how much he gave for it and see if the guy has another one

    I appreciate it.
My son's truck is at my house in Illinois now. We would be willing to travel for a good low mileage engine.

I would prefer to buy something I can here run. We got burnt twice on engines that people said were good when they pulled them.
