    Default Help

I had to replace my water pump and found my coolant crossover has an ear broken off. I know a lot of guys upgrade to the duel thermostat. Does anybody have a crossover part # 23500374 they would be willing to sell?

Change your topic from "Help" to something like "Looking for unloved single thermostat crossover"

Thanks for input. That helps a great deal. How about unneeded crossover.

Broken "ears" on the coolant crossover...

Note to self... always use a flat washer under the crossover's bolts/nuts, to prevent damaging the crossover, like what is shown and discussed on page 83 of The 6.2L/6.5L Diesel Troubleshooting & Repair Guide. This Guide is far-far less expensive than a replacement crossover, and it's filled with hundreds of these sorts of time and money saving ideas.

Thanks for that information. The ear was broken off when I bought the truck a couple of years ago. I packed it with RTV and have put about 7000 miles on it. I only took it back off because the water pump started leaking and one bolt for the timing cover is behind the bypass hose connector. Detroit Diesel division of GM could certainly have done a better job of design on the water pump installation. Oldsmobile V-8 water pump has dimples with threads in the timing cover, so they could have done something like that. Again thank you for that information, I will certainly be looking it over.
