Thread: CEL After Fuel Filter Change

Default CEL After Fuel Filter Change

Changed the fuel filter on my '16 3500 today. Went smoothly but upon starting to check for leaks I got a CEL then the "175 miles to 65MPH" message.

I did remove the intake elbow between the air cleaner and the intake but did not disconnect any wires or plugs up there.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Welcome aboard!

The "countdown" is almost always smog equipment related, and will usually come with a DEF or DPF warning. Double-check the MAF/IAT sensor connector on the intake (disconnect then reconnect). You'll need to pull the codes for more info. Just air in the system from a filter change should not cause it, unless it didn't seal well and is leaking in air. Let us know what codes you find.

    FIXED!

I went back and disconnected the water in fuel sensor and reseated it. Problem gone!

    Glad you found the problem.

Generally... whenever a trouble code or warning message appears in connection with some other service procedure, there's usually a connection.

    Welcome to the board!
