    Default 6.5L Cylinder mismatched casting

    Hello,

I apologize if this topic has already been covered. I performed a search for cylinder heads and combed through pages of post but couldn't find an answer to this question.

1.) Can you put mismatched casting numbers on an engine?
2.) Can you put mismatched injector angle heads on an engine?

    Hi
You probably can but i would not mix stuff, the engine will not be as balanced as it should be.
It would be a get home type of fix which may not make the home part

The heads came in several styles

The C engine (1/2 ton) with more emission
The J engine (3/4 and 1 ton stuff

There are a bunch of different pre-cup designs.....DO NOT MIX AND MATCH THESE AT ALL.

    Run all matching pre-cups.

Best to keep matching heads with matching cups.

The injector angles came into play when the turbo came into the game....Make more room to clear the turbo and such

Short injectors or long injectors.....Fine or coarse thread injectors (Coarse thread...Early 6.2)

In a pinch, you probably could use a mismatched set, but as others here suggest, it could result in a more unbalanced running engine. Personally, I'd not consider it unless the valve diameters and the pre-cups were the same (or had the same size openings).
