    Question

If any of you guys could offer me an estimate on how much oil your trucks burn, and the year and miles, I would greatly appreciate it.

Between 1/2 and 1 qt in 2500- 3000 miles depends on how hard I drive.

    Good Day!

Every one of the trucks listed in my profile use ~ a quart every 2000 miles, regardless of what oil I'm using. The 6.5TD's use a little more when working hard, the 82 6.2 would go ~ 500 miles per quart when worked hard.

    Blessings!

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm trying to get a handle on oil consumption of older GM built engines vs. current GEP built product.

I agree, same as my 1999. I've got 150K on the truck. When I change oil, I just add in 2 gallons. When I go to change the oil, old oil level is at the full mark, maybe 1/4 low depending on if I was towing. I typically let my oil pan drain with the oil pan heater on, seems to drain faster and more thoroughly. When I fill up the new oil its maybe 1/2 over.

i was using about 1 L for every 5000kms if worked hard a little more. Switched to the new DSG fuel conditioner, BIOARMOUR it is a canola based conditioner. now i have not burned any oil at all in 7000kms. pushed the oil but it is a synthetic, have been running 0-40w for 2 years now.

With the original engine, 1/2 quart at 5000 miles which was the change interval with 100% synthetic.

New engine, 4200 miles, no useage at 3000 miles.
