I was looking at the different prices for 6.2L rebuilt injectors. $20.00 for 1982-1987 and $30.50 for 1988-1992. What is the difference in the two injectors that would cost $10.50 more? Are they better?

From what I can tell, there are three versions of the 6.2 Injectors

    1982 Coarse Thread, only 1982 models (C & J) 6.2L

    1983-87 Fine Thread Long Body Injectors (C & J) 6.2L

1988 - 1992 Short body fine thread injectors (83+ G-vans all use this short injector). 6.2L

The differences in price are kind of confusing to me. I don't know why a long body injector would be less than an short body 6.2 injector. My guess is that they have a slightly higher pop pressure, no numbers on that though. The short body 6.2 injectors are very similar to the 6.5 injectors in size, but completly different pop presssures. I think its an availability of parts issue.

The cost of a rebuilt 6.5L injector is the same as the 1988-1992 injector. I would think that it would mean a slightly higher pop pressure and design change in the newer ones. I can not believe that it is a parts availability issue. With a design change parts can be more or less expensive to manufacture.
