I'm sure glad we have all of the information on the harmonic balancer!

I'm posting this as a reminder to keep checking your balancers, because things can change in short order.

I checked my harmonic balancer 2 months ago and it was fine, but today, after removing it for the timing gear installation, I found it had 2 large cracks in the rubber bonding on one side.

This is when I also discovered my back up balancer was for the later 6.5LTD which has a shorter boss . So I forked out for a brand new GM part # 14022671, which was only $77.00.

Has anyone fitted a fluid dampener to these motors? I thought I had seen some info on here about this in the past, but it's gone now?
