I'm assuming you wish to do this from a desire to excel and not as a desire to save $$?
Gear Vendors = $2200
Diesel = $1.75/gallon (here)
$2200/1.75 ~= 1257 gallons
1257 gallons * 25mpg = 31,425 miles. That's a humdinger of a lot of miles you could go on that cash.
I say put the money in the bank. Or buy a 6 speed trans from a wrecker for less than the GV. I'm sure adapters are coming if not out already.
I'm swapping in a 4L80E for my TH400 in rather than a GV. Too much $$ for the content IMO. It's not a mpg thing, it's a noise and speed thing (I can go 75 comfortably instead of wound out). The mpg ends up being a side benefit.
Worst case, I'll have $1300 into the swap. Best case, $600. I'll keep ya'll apprised.
