I have an occasional problem with the power steering losing the assist when braking. Probably, once a month or so. Not a big deal just puzzling what it might be.Any ideas?

I have an occasional problem with the power steering losing the assist when braking. Probably, once a month or so. Not a big deal just puzzling what it might be.
Check your PS belt has no more than 1/4" of deflection in the middle when pushed down really hard. Check the PS pump fluid level is full.
If the tightness and fluid levels are OK, then you may have a problem with either the PS pump or the hydroboost/PS circuit.

The belt seems logical as I noticed today when it did it, that I heard a belt squeal. Thanks Brittanic.
