I read a while back a post about a simple procedure to replace the fuel filter. I've been doing searches but I cannot find it. I'm tired of handing over $ 155 + to the dealer every 10K miles. But then I'm not interested in disassembling the engine compartment to change the filter either. I watched thru the glass this past weekend and they tech did it in about 15-20 minutes.

Would someone mind re-posting this procedure?

Just bring it to me. I will do it for a Benny...

It is really easy, takes me about 15 min. I pull the battery on that side and she goes out and in like a breeze.

But my offer of $100 stands for all (I will provide the filter). Hehehehe

I remove the inner fender well. Takes just a few minutes to remove. Once removed, you have a clean shot at the fuel filter. Total job is 20 minutes tops. You can get the filters online for around $20 a piece.

Give it a try. I think you'll be surprised how easy it really is.

I waqs pulling the fender well down in the front only but the last time I did it with out pulling it, just bent the plastic up with my arms shoved it over the tire! like every one says 10~15 mins... filters will be comming down in price, you should be paying around 33.00 for a NAPA filter.

I went from the top side. You really dont have to "bend" the A/C line....just slightly tweak it out of the way the first time. (~~~In my truck anyway). To me, this seemed a whole lot simplier than removing batteries/inner fenders, in order to go from the bottom side. Just my $.02. Hope everybody is having a great weekend.

Johns,
Use a nylon strap oil filter wrench to loosen the filter. Make sure you unplug the water sensor on the bottom of the filter. Wrap the strap around the filter and loosen it. Once it is alittle lose I put a plastic bag around the filter(to catch any fuel drips). Once the filter is off you can place it on the frame rail and then reach in from the wheel well and flex the liner out enongh to pull the filter out. Hope this helps.

I did mine a couple of weeks ago and all of the cuts on my hands are healed. Biggest PITA was reconnecting the electrical and chasing after the O ring.

Sorry so slow..

Pretty simple, use a thin screw driver to carefully pry out the center of the retainer clips..

The center pulls out.. releasing the outter retainer which then also pulls out. I usually use the screw driver to get the center pulled out just enough and then use a small pair of needle nose to pull the center out.

Viola.. retainer comes out.. Once the liner is removed.. you can easily access the filter through the fender well.. for more room I guess you could remove the wheel too.. but I never do I can change the filter in about 15 minutes or so..
