I have an 85 C2500 with a 6.5 banks turbo. I hate towing with auto's and I am looking for an overdrive. Does anyone know what would be the best/cheepest 5 speed and how hard the swap is? does anyone make a petal/cylinder conversion or would one out of another truck work? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The "standard" manual tranny (no pun intended ) behind the 6.5 is the NV4500. I'd say that the best bet would be to find a junkyard vehicle and swap over everything you needed. With the '85 it would not be a direct swap, but I'm guessing that the 6.5 swap already needed some "adjustments" to accomodate.
