    Smile Predator Programmer

    Hi,
Do you guys think it is ok to use the Predator Programmer on a stock LB7 if I just use the tow tune. I would like to get one and try it on the first 2 settings but not sure if it will hurt my truck or not. Thanks for your help.

No problem with the +40 tow tune, it's pretty safe. Any more, and you'll need at least an EGT gage to keep an eye on the temps. I don't suggest towing on a higher setting w/o gage(s).

I have logged many towing miles on the +40 setting with a 2001 LB7. It adds some umph without causing any problems with temps or tranny slip, in my experience.

www.kennedydiesel.com sells an 'LB7 Boost Valve' that will add some needed air to burn the extra fuel. That and a set of EGT/Boost gauges would be a good idea if you tow regularly and/or heavy.

Personally, I think the LB7 with that +40 tune likes about 20-22psi of boost max. EGTs will be about 1200 under those conditions, which are okay for acceleration/short duration while towing. The Duramax is rated for 1400 continuous, but I don't think anyone would recommend that! 65mph cruise EGTs will settle in about 800-950, with boost pressures of 11-15psi.
