    Default transfer case

so i had one project truck, 1979 3/4 ton 4x4, 4 spd, NP205 t-case......i recently bought a 1989 blazer with a 6.2, 700R4, and i believe it has a 242 t-case. someone correct me if i'm wrong on the t-case. i was originally planning an engine swap so my 79 would be a diesel, but turns out the blazer is in better shape than i though, and would be more fun......removeable top and fully loaded.......

so my question is can i put an NP205 t-case behind a 700R4 tranny?

You'll have to find a TH350 adapter for the NP205, as it shares the same bolt pattern & spline count with your 700R4.

You'll also have to change the output shaft of the 700R4 or get a spacer to go between the adapter & Transmission. The 700R4 shaft is about 2 or 3" longer than the TH350 shaft (4x4 model)
