What is your intended use? The 4WD Kodiaks are set up with only one gearset from the factory, its like a 5.33 or something close to that and limits your highway speed to around 55-60 mph at 2000rpm.

I have been told they are a beast in the snow, and would love to plow with one, but the gearing cripples them for road/hauling use as my C4500 with 4.88 (?) gearing is really too low to be fuel efficient.

Sounds like it might be perfect for your use. I'd try to demo one for a day or two before purchasing, if possible. The ride and general fit-and-finish is different than the light duty lineup and some people develop buyers remorse after purchasing and the first trips. The ride is harsh at best!

I really like my C4500 - it does what it was intended to do, well.

I bought my 2004 C4500 in June of 2007 for half of the cost of a new, equipped truck. 20K miles at that time.

When dealers put a trade value on my truck, they have been incredibly low. So low it says they aren't 'buying back' their own product. That means they are going cheap on the used market.
