Exactly my point!! It's not a deal breaker, it just sucks having to shut the engine off to shift into 4WD, then start the engine again. Looks like I am going to have to find a good used transfer case, does anyone have one??

You can come to a stop, shift to park or neutral, shift in/out of 4WD, and then go. Shouldn't have to shut the engine off. Still, it's a hassle to not have shift-on-the-fly.

The link trailrider gives does have a phone number and mention take-out parts. They may have some insight for you. To me, synchro parts are wear items and should be available, but I'm not seeing the parts in the overhaul kits - although it is a bit hard to tell from the photos.
