Default NE1 emissions on 2020 2500HD Diesel

Considering buying a new 2500HD with Diesel from Maryland (best price) but live in NC. Are there any disadvantages to buying a truck with California emission standards for use in a state where California emissions are not required. My real question is how different are the new diesels which are certified for California emissions.
