    Default Perkins anybody

My brother has a cj5 basicly stock, uses it for DD and hunting. Its getting imposible to find some of the REQUIRED smog equipment. I know there was a Perkins Diesel that would fit in his jeep. It now has Ford 230ci in line 6 cylinder and 5 speed. Any sources on a perkins? And how about price range for a rebuildable one?

Perkins were offered as a stock engine, also the Nissan 3.3 was in the CJ10 tugs.

He may be better off looking for an 4 cyl. Isuzu or Cummins. Both are very adaptable to other drivetrains and parts are available. Find a stepvan with one of those engines.
