    Default Gauge parameters

    Hello,
    I have a 2004.5 LLY and would like to install some aftermarket gauges.
    What would you recommend for gauge parameters on a stock truck.

    I have 2 options for each gauge.
    Boost: 35 and 60 psi.
    EGT: 1500F and 2400F
    Fuel pressure: 35 and 100 psi. (lift pump install soon)
    I can max them out but they become very difficult to read at that point.

    Also, what would be the danger zones (max numbers) for the LLY?
    Just looking for general numbers.
    Specifically:
    Boost pressure
    EGT
    Transmission temp
    Coolant temp.

    Boost: 35 is plenty, I think max is below 20.
    EGT: depends on where you put the sensor, but I'm thinking 1500 is plenty. 1000 is pretty darn hot.
    Fuel pressure: Unless you have a lift pump, you'll be reading a vacuum until the high pressure fuel pump at which point you're up in the 20Kpsi range. With a fuel pump? 35psi is more than you'll need. Typical will be less than 10 IIRC.

    Kennedy might show up to give you a better (professional) opinion.

    Engine and transmission already have marked gauges on the dash, and the display will let you know if you've exceeded the safe zone.

    Thanks for the help on the gauges, exactly what I was looking for.

    As far as danger zones, the red areas seem a bit high.
    When I hit north of 205F on my 6.5 I would quickly sit up and take notice.
    Ive never had a trans gauge so the numbers are all new to me.

    Looking at your profile name, would you happen to deal with Hazard Class 5 Oxidizers?

    Fire school touched on oxidizers but I've fortunately never had to play with them except in that environment. That was about 20 years ago. Pretty neat how some stuff can react with a fuel.

    If you want to do gauges I'd suggest stick with boost and EGT. Reality is, it's not like the days of past where a pyrometer was a necessity. If you run GOOD tuning your EGT should be better than stock.
