Default New Alternator, no working Tachometer

I have a 1996 Chevy Suburban, K2500 6.5 turbocharged inter cooled with Many mods. this is our camping and shooting Truck. for our up coming trip we added LED light bars from and rear.

I also added a 250 Amp Alternator from Tucson Alternator. here is my problem once I started it I notice my Tachometer was dead. then I remembered that the Tach gets the signal from the Alternator. The company confirmed this and said they would take back the Alternator and cables no questions asked.

I love having 180 amps at idle and with both A/Cs running and all the lights on the voltage gauge is above 14. this thing is amazing.

My question is can I get the signal for the tach from somewhere else or am I just never going to have a Tach again. I don't want to give up the voltage.

any help on getting a new signal would be greatly appreciated.

The tach signal comes from the stator in the alternator.

The signal is picked up from the regulator.

I am surprised that your new alternator is not wired up the same as the factory alternator

Is the new unit a CS series ???

The CS is the later model alternator

GM used the SI for years then went to the CS SERIES

    There are a few models
    CS130
    CS 130D

    And others

I am surprised that the builder did not make the unit compatible to drive the. tach

There are some aftermarket gizmos that clamp to the alternator with a hose clamp (Kinda hokey) and these generate a signal for the tach

Not sure if they will work on the factory tach though.
