    Angry Synthetic Oil

Not bring familiar with synthetic oils,am wondering
if this is a normal colour of oil after about 8000 miles.

Motor oil? It should generally be dark grey or black, caused by its doing the job of getting contaminates into suspension.

ATF should be red or pink.

Don: Is your coolant going down, and your oil level rising? Just a thought.

    No the coolant is fine.
Had the oil changed 3 days ago, they checked
the coolant levels and said it was fine.
Am surprised that in 8000 miles the oil
was only down about 3/4 of a letre.
Milage is good at 38 mpg(imperial)highway.
    Check mileage every tank(calculated).
New oil is Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30.
Will watch it closely in the future for
    any colour change.

I thought you were referring to a diesel. Gaso engine motor oil will change color very little. The pink color doesn't signify a coolant leak - that would cause cloudiness and a mayonnaise-like sludge.

With few exceptions, the only thing you can tell from the color is...the color.

I'd further say without knowing what the original color was, that's about all you're going to be able to say.

    Bought the car from Son-in-Law.
Phoned chev dealer in Blaine WA
who did all the servicing on this car.
Was told it was mobile 1 and they
    said the colour was normal.
