Update Nov. 2011 now at 192,000 had to replace a set of injectors at around 168,000 miles other than that, a new trans computer and NBUS switch. Still a great truck. Oh by the way those original tires went 102,000 miles. I use Mobil 1 for all oils except the engine which uses Shell.

    Wink Mileage

Not the most by the looks of some posts, but my '01 LB7 has 270K on the odometer. My first set of injectors were replaced at 175K and I've got one that is getting flaky (balance rate of -2.6 to -4.0; just a wisp of smoke detected at the TP).

Some truck you got there! Looks to me like you got this contest wrapped up. Especially with an average speed of over 200 MPH.

    Default Too many miles

    Hey everyone,
I am new to the group. I am used truck shopping. Is their a point where you need to pass on a used Duramax as far as high miles? I realize it depends a lot on what kind of maintaince it has had. As far as what I can afford i am looking at 04 or 05 trucks and they are all over the board from 50k to over 300k.

    Thanks
    Buck

Me and the truck has been retired to the farm for a while. Loving it!

Now, if I could just get another 400.

    Cool 2004 Dmax-

348K miles and only 1 injector? If legit, this is outstanding! My ('01 LB7) injectors only lasted 187K before they started smoking. 2nd set started checking out after 95K more. Now, I smell diesel in the exhaust after 55K on the 3rd set. Balance rates (while not all inclusive) are all over the place but still under the max of 4.0/6.0 (park/in gear).

339K miles on mine and the head gaskets were recently replaced. Rear xfer case cover suffered the wear hole thing and that was replaced too. Water pump at 189K miles. Still, I'd get another DMax. Which one though?

Yesterday I became a proud owner of an 07 classic chevy ccsb 4by. With 334K on her. I have been playing with the idea of getting a dmax for sometime. Then this truck came across. the truck drove out good and the 2 previous owners kept great maintence records, its bone stock and the money was right at 10K. Sooo shes mine. anything I should really take a look at with those miles?

    Default Preventative maintainence?

206500. Pretty much all original equipment. Wondering if I should replace waterpump, radiator hoses or starter or just keep driving it?

I'd not replace the waterpump unless you notice it's leaking at the weep hole - or if you need to replace the head gaskets. Absent cooling system overpressure due to head gasket problems, the water pump seal should last for a long-long time.
