Hi Dr. Lee,
The stock dual exhaust on my 91 Suburban NA 6.2 is getting pretty rusty and leaky, so I'm wondering what to do about replacing it.
I've heard about the banks stinger system, though at $600 +shipping that sounds a bit steep (especially for just plain aluminized pipe). I've also not had much luck finding listings for the stock exhaust system or other alternatives.
I've heard that despite the common wisdom that dual exhausts breath better, that this may not always be the case particularly with the 6.2, though an "H" pipe or "X" pipe is supposed to help this.
What I'm trying to determine is the best combination of good breathing and not making everyone in the sub or outside of it deaf from the exhaust roar.
So, I'm wondering what kind of recommendations
you might have for replacing a stock 6.2 exhaust?
I also assume that adding a free breathing air intake system and filter (like the Banks unit) in combination with the right exhaust setup would help out with both power and mileage?
Thanks for your help,
